Are You Living with the Beliefs of a 7-Year-Old?
Have you ever wondered why you react to situations in ways that don’t seem logical? Or why certain patterns in your life keep repeating, even though you “know better”?
The answer lies in how your beliefs were formed during your earliest years of life.
The Subconscious Mind of a Child
From birth until around the age of 7, children live almost entirely in their subconscious mind.
In this stage, there is no filter between what they experience and what they accept as truth. Every word, action, and environment they’re exposed to sinks straight in.
That’s why children believe without question when they’re told things like:
✨ “You’re so clever.”
✨ “You’re difficult.”
✨ “You’ll never be good at that.”
These messages bypass logic and become foundational beliefs.
The Critical Faculty Comes Later
Around ages 8–10, the critical faculty develops. This is the part of the mind that allows us to think critically, evaluate, and question information.
It’s why older children can start to say, “That doesn’t sound right,” or even push back against what they’re told.
But by this point, the core beliefs about themselves, other people, and the world are already in place.
What Gets Formed in Those Early Years
By age 7, the subconscious has already laid down most of the patterns that shape how we see ourselves and how we live our lives:
Beliefs: Am I safe? Am I loved? Am I good enough?
Values: What’s important? What’s dangerous? What’s “right” or “wrong”?
Identity: Who am I? What role do I play in the world?
These early installations become the “operating system” of our lives.
The Problem: Outdated Programming
As adults, we can learn new things, form new habits, even adopt new values. But those early beliefs still dominate — often without us realising it.
That’s why someone may logically know they’re capable, yet still feel “not good enough.” Or they may know they’re safe, yet still feel anxious in everyday situations.
In many ways, we are all adults walking around with the beliefs of a 7-year-old.
How Hypnotherapy Helps
Here’s the good news: those early beliefs can be updated.
In hypnotherapy and Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), I work with clients to:
✨ Identify outdated subconscious programming
✨ Show the mind that those old “truths” no longer apply
✨ Install new, accurate information that supports who they are today
When the subconscious gets this update, the old loops lose their power. Clients often describe it as finally feeling aligned with what they know to be true, instead of being pulled back by old beliefs.
You’re Not Broken — You’re Running Old Code
Think of it this way: your mind is like software.
The “version” you’re running was installed when you were very young.
Hypnotherapy is like a system update — clearing glitches, dissolving outdated programs, and helping the conscious and subconscious mind work together.
Ready to Update Your Beliefs?
If you’ve been feeling stuck in patterns that don’t make sense, it may be because your subconscious is still operating from those early years.
🌿 With hypnotherapy and RRT, you can finally let go of outdated beliefs and start living with clarity, confidence, and freedom.
